Wandile Mkhatshwa
President – Kingdom of Eswatini Pharmacy Association

It is with great pleasure to welcome you to this wonderful platform of which we believe will assist all of us in terms of our professional development and to uphold great competency in terms of Pharmacy practice in Eswatini.

We are grateful to the Commonwealth Pharmacists Association for the ongoing partnership with KEPA of which it will go a long way in assisting us achieve our mandate as envisaged by the membership and ensure patient safety.
It is therefore our that if this platform is utilized the standard of Pharmacy practice will be greatly improved hence our members are encouraged to utilise it to the best that we can.

The Kingdom of Eswatini Pharmacy Association although a fairly new association was formed in the year 2019. After identifying that there is a gap in terms of voice of pharmacy in health care policy formulation and advocacy for the expanded role of a Pharmacist . The Association was then officially registered as an association in the year 2020 .

The membership of the association comes from diverse background which includes the wholesale sector , academia , hospital pharmacy and mostly from the community pharmacy sector .

Eswatini currently doesn’t have a Pharmacy Council hence pharmacist and other pharmacy professionals are registered by the Eswatini Medical and Dental Council through the Medical and Dental Council act of 1970. However the Pharmacy Bill which seeks to establish the pharmacy council is under review by seeks approval by the country’s legislature.

In Eswatini we currently have 2 institutions that offer pharmacy programmes being the Eswatini Medical Christian university which trains pharmacists and the Southern Africa Nazarene university which trains pharmacy technicians.
